To open Guo Pei, Couture Beyond – the first fashion exhibition ever staged at the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) - the museum invited me to moderate a conversation with its subject. Guo Pei made her Paris Haute Couture debut in January 2016 and that year was named on TIME’s 100 Most Influential People and the Business of Fashion's 500 most influential people shaping global fashion.

INDIE FILM PROJECT

As Artistic Consultant of Autograph Collection Hotels’ Indie Film Project I moderated a series of panel discussions to celebrate the autumn 2017 debut of its dedicated digital film channel. The panels took place during exclusive FilmBuff premieres of the feature Gemini and also Sara Driver’s documentary, Boom For Real in Boston and Dallas, respectively.

Coco Chanel’s “Comeback Collection” was the topic of my conversation at Chanel's Bond Street, London boutique for 2012’s Fashion’s Night Out. To enhance the talk, British Vogue’s Francesca Burns conceived a special fashion show which paid tribute to Chanel’s iconic 1954 presentation.

From Cleopatra to the Duchess of Cambridge was based on my research for Costume and Fashion, A Complete History. It illuminated the evolution of fashion from ancient Egypt to present as part of the 2011 Boshell Family Lecture Series on Archaeology.

Hudson’s Bay Company

In October 2010, Hudson’s Bay Company invited me to Toronto where I chaired a panel illuminating the department store’s historic fashion connection to England. The panelists included the directional London designers whose work is sold at HBC including Erdem, Giles Deacon, Charlotte-Olympia Dellal, Mark Fast, Nicholas Kirkwood, Jonathan Saunders and Marios Schwab.

Upon its 250th anniversary in 2008, Wedgwood enlisted me to produce and deliver a lecture at London’s Royal Academy of Arts conveying the impact on design, culture and industry made by the company’s founder, Josiah Wedgwood.

The Savoy

The Savoy engaged me to develop and deliver Savoy Style, an international series of talks contextualizing its 21st-century restoration. Savoy Style took place at the Royal Institute of British Architects, MoMA and Hotel Bel-Air in summer 2008.

I inaugurated the British Film Institute’s Costume Interpreter series, staging talks at its Southbank Centre with leading Hollywood costume designers.
